A brow lift raises heavy or sagging eyebrows that can make you look tired, angry or older than you feel. By lifting the brow to a natural position, it opens the upper face and softens frown lines — often alongside eyelid surgery for a complete refresh of the eye area.

What is a brow lift?

As we age the brow descends, crowding the upper eyelids and deepening the lines between and above the brows. A brow lift (including endoscopic techniques through small hidden incisions) repositions the brow and the tissues beneath to a refreshed, natural height — restoring an open, rested expression.

Brow lift techniques — and how they differ from Botox

A brow lift raises a heavy, low brow to a natural height. The approach is chosen on your anatomy and hairline.

Option What it means
Endoscopic brow lift Small incisions hidden in the hairline; the brow is repositioned with keyhole instruments — the most common modern approach.
Temporal (lateral) brow lift Lifts mainly the outer brow through a small incision at the temple.
Direct / hairline lift Chosen for specific hairlines or heavier brows; the incision is placed accordingly.
Botox (non-surgical) Relaxes muscles for a subtle, temporary lift of a few millimetres — not a substitute for surgery when the brow is genuinely heavy.

Are you a good candidate?

  • Heavy, low or asymmetric brows that make you look tired or stern.
  • Deep frown lines or a “hooded” look partly caused by the brow, not just the eyelid.
  • Good general health and realistic expectations.

A brow lift addresses the brow position; it is often paired with eyelid surgery when both contribute to a tired look. Your surgeon assesses which you need.

How it is performed

Depending on your anatomy, the brow is lifted through small incisions — often endoscopic, hidden in the hairline — or via other approaches. The brow and underlying tissues are repositioned and secured at a natural height. It is commonly combined with eyelid surgery or a facelift.

Recovery

Swelling and some bruising settle over one to two weeks. Mild numbness or tightness in the forehead is normal early on and eases with time. Most people return to a light routine within about two weeks.

Risks and safety, honestly

A brow lift is a well-established, generally safe procedure, but honesty about risk matters. Temporary numbness or itching of the forehead and scalp is common, and small differences between sides or a subtle change in hairline position can occur — which is why technique and planning matter. It is often combined with upper-eyelid surgery, because a low brow and hooded lids frequently go together. At Clinic Elia the procedure is performed by Op. Dr. Ali Çetinkaya at Acıbadem, with realistic, honest planning.

Results

A brow lift gives a lasting, natural improvement to the upper face — an open, rested look rather than a surprised one when done well. The face continues to age naturally over the years.

Frequently asked questions

Will a brow lift make me look surprised?

Not when done well. A natural brow lift restores a rested position, not an over-raised, startled look.

Is it the same as eyelid surgery?

No — a brow lift raises the brow; eyelid surgery removes excess lid skin and puffiness. They are often combined.

Are the scars visible?

Endoscopic and hairline approaches hide incisions within the hair. Your surgeon chooses the approach that suits you.

How long does it last?

The improvement is long-lasting, though ageing continues. Results are durable for years.

Is it painful?

Discomfort is usually mild; forehead tightness and numbness early on are normal and settle.

Can it be combined with other procedures?

Yes — commonly with eyelid surgery or a facelift for a complete upper-face refresh.

How long do I stay in Turkey?

Usually around a week, confirmed in your plan.

Brow lift or Botox?

Botox gives a subtle, temporary lift and is great for early changes; a surgical brow lift is for a genuinely heavy, descended brow and lasts far longer. Your surgeon advises which fits you.

Where are the scars?

With an endoscopic lift they are small and hidden in the hairline. Other techniques place them discreetly according to your anatomy.

Will it change my hairline?

The technique is chosen to protect your hairline; your surgeon discusses this based on your forehead height.

Should I combine it with eyelid surgery?

Often yes — a low brow can mimic hooded lids, and treating both together gives a more natural result.

Do men have brow lifts?

Yes, planned to keep a masculine, level brow rather than an arched one.
